Each part is placed on a specially designed, part specific rack, created and maintained by Areway for each customer. These racks are designed so that plating can be easily distributed across the entire part
Plating
Corrosion is a natural electrochemical process that causes oxidation and/or degradation of a material. That’s where we come in. We plate objects not only to beautify them, but to slow down the oxidation process as well. Plating (electroplating) is the electrochemical process of depositing a metallic coating on the base material of an object. Normally only the exterior is plated, but if needed, we can plate the interior of a part by applying auxiliary anodes to the bath.

We are experts at plating decorative copper, nickel and chrome
We can apply any or all of the following layers to achieve your desired finish:
-
Cyanide Copper: Applied as a base layer to sensitive metals and to improve adhesion of subsequent layers.
-
Acid Copper: Improves the appearance, corrosion protection and ductility of the coating system. Thicker deposits may be buffed to hide substrate defects.
-
Semi-bright Nickel: Adds corrosion resistance and some brightness to the final product.
-
Bright Nickel: Provides the mirror-like brightness associated with decorative chrome finishes. This layer can be deposited with or without a semi-bright nickel undercoat. Applying this layer over the semi-bright nickel gives better corrosion resistance.

-
Micro-Porous Nickel: Applied in a thin layer, this special nickel layer contains nonconductive particles that create microporosity in the subsequently plated chrome deposit. This layer significantly increases corrosion protection.
-
Decorative Chrome: When this thin layer of chromium is deposited over the nickel layer(s), with or without microporosity, it prevents the nickel from tarnishing and provides the characteristic chrome color.
